Celebrate Coaching 2024 Recap
Our 2024 Celebrate Coaching event on Friday, October 18, was a great success in fulfilling our mission to “Learn. Connect. Grow. Together!”
By the Numbers: We had 99 registered attendees (in-person and online), over a dozen volunteers, ten Sponsors (1 Platinum, 1 Gold, and 8 Silver), five expert panelists, and one amazing keynote speaker!
Pallavi Ridout challenged each of us with her keynote speech on “The Dance of Connection – Embracing Growth and Purpose in Coaching.” She encouraged us to ask ourselves not only what we’re passionate about in coaching but also what our clients truly need right now.
Our panelists included Nicholas Dillon, Tenice Wehmeyer, Daniel Stewart, Reeshemah Davis, and Shelia Maness, moderated by our chapter President-Elect, Dr. Dara Rossi. They discussed some of their most frequently used assessment tools, and how they incorporate them in coaching, to help each of us in building a toolbox for success.
Also at this event, Past President Staci Witten and President-Elect Dara Rossi presented the North Texas chapter’s $500 donation to North Texas Food Bank, and encouraged members and guests to give individual donations as well. Our chapter has supported leadership development at NTFB for the past five years through pro bono coaching provided by many of our members.
We’re especially grateful to our Platinum Sponsor, The ELM Advisory Group (Platinum); Gold Sponsor, Gupta Capital Group; and eight Silver Sponsors: Achieve Coaching Rx, Bold Leader Development, Byte Sized Solutions, Measured Transitions, SMU Human-Centered Interdisciplinary Studies, Stewart Leadership, Strive 4ward Coaching and Consulting, and Summit Coaching and Behavioral Consulting.
Finally, we’re very appreciative of all of the volunteers who worked for several months in planning and delivering this fantastic event, including several of our chapter officers, the Special Events committee, and the Program and Membership committees: Tyra Bremer (our emcee and planner extraordinaire), MK Boehme, Lara Burnside, Teresa Dabney, Susan Daniel, Ben Dilla, Nicholas Dillon, Steve Hendon, Sandi Knight, Norma Martinez, Gary McNeil, Lisa Ong, Ginnie Plauche, Juanita Rowley, Dara Rossi, Kim Spikes, Nathan Swenson-Reinhold, Patty Vaccaro, Jackie Wadleigh, and Staci Witten.
Celebrate Coaching 2024 was a wonderful event for reconnecting with colleagues, meeting new coaches and business leaders who support coaching, and being reminded about the impact of what we have the opportunity to do as coaches!

From Your Board
As the year winds down, your board is still hard at work. During our last board meeting on October 11, 2024, we discussed the final draft of the Chapter Activity Report and let our board members know they would be receiving a copy for one last look and feedback before submitting to ICF Global. In addition, we also:
- Considered dates for the Past President’s Brunch.
- Considered dates for the board’s winter retreat.
- Discussed the importance of each director updating their SOP document.
- Heard a positive update from our treasurer, letting us know that we are on track to hit our financial goals for the year.
- The nominating committee provided us with an update for next steps for electing the 2025 board. By now, members should have received an email about the slate and voting.
- We received an update on Celebrate Coaching. “Celebrate” was held on October 18 and was a big success with an attendance of approximately 100 people, in person and online.
- Received an update on our November meeting and program. A workshop will be included, and the program and workshop will provide the necessary CCEs to renew certifications.
We welcome your questions and feedback. You can reach out to me or any of our board members.
Sincerely,
Steve Hendon, PCC

Member Snapshot - Norma Martinez, ACC
Our Member Snapshot is a glimpse of your fellow members, the great network of resources available to you and the value of belonging to ICF-North Texas. This month our feature is Norma Martinez, MSOD, ACC, founder of Shift Forward Coaching and Consulting.
Why have you chosen to be a member of ICF-North Texas? My journey with ICF-North Texas began in 2016 while I was an internal coach at Vistra Energy. Since then, I've participated in committees such as Communications, Alliances and Membership, drawn to the strong community. Through ICF-North Texas and the Global ICF organization, I’ve had the privilege of coaching clients in Texas, Guatemala and El Salvador. I am currently volunteering with ICF Ignite, where we provide pro bono coaching to organizations aligned with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Being part of these global change efforts is truly inspiring and fulfilling.
Why Coaching? I founded Shift Forward Coaching and Consulting in 2016, while transitioning from internal talent management to business advisory consulting. After almost seven years in business advisory consulting, I moved to return to this work full time in 2023. I love to call this phase of my work as moving from “career to contribution.”
With over 20 years of experience advising senior leaders in Fortune 500 companies, I understand the pressures of high-stakes business environments. My focus is on partnering with executives, professionals and entrepreneurs who seek to step into their full potential and drive meaningful change. Using storytelling, personal experiences, and reflection, I support my clients in uncovering insights that lead to sustainable transformation.
I enjoy partnering with Latino and Latina leaders who need to balance authenticity, adaptability and cultural fit, and are ready to take actions to advance in their careers.
Credentials and Certifications: I am a certified coach through iPEC (Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching) and an ICF ACC credentialed coach. My certifications included DISC Personality Assessment, Hermann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI), and iPEC Energy Leadership Index. I have 20+ years of working with teams and leaders in experiential team and group circles.
What else would we know about you? I’m a research-driven coach and am curious about how we enable authenticity in the workplace. My research project in this focus area will launch in early 2025.
Beyond coaching, I am a long-distance cyclist and global traveler. These personal pursuits fuel my growth and transformation, and I weave these experiences into my coaching practice. Whether it’s pushing through the limits of endurance or navigating the unknown, I understand firsthand the importance of resilience, adaptability and continual learning.
