ICF North Texas 2023 Slate of Board Directors and Officers

Voting Ends at Midnight on Monday, November 14

Voting is available to Members only. Members must be logged in to access the ballot.

The Slate of Directors and Officers for the 2023 ICF North Texas Board was approved by the current ICF North Texas Board. According to our bylaws: “Members of the Board of Directors shall serve a minimum of two (2) years and a maximum of three (3) terms (six years) with an allowance of an exception for the President-Elect position. If a member is elected as President-Elect for the sixth consecutive year of service, he or she may serve a seventh year as President.”

Coming Soon: Call for nominations for the 2022 Distinguished Service Award

Each year, the ICF North Texas Board of Directors puts out a call for nominations for our Distinguished Service Award (DSA). This annual award recognizes distinguished service by one of our own to the coaching profession and the North Texas Chapter. Prior award recipients are Judy Feld, MCC, Sara Smith, MCC, and Teresa Pool, MCC.

On December 1, an email will be sent with details and a link to the nomination form. DSA nominations are due by December 15.

The 2022 Distinguished Service Award will be presented at the chapter's Annual Meeting on Jan. 13, 2023.

Save the Date: December 8 ICF North Texas Holiday Party

ICF North Texas will hold our Holiday Party on Thursday, December 8 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. This will be an in-person only event and will be held at the Las Colinas Country Club. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon. You won’t want to miss the good food, festivities, prizes and music!

Be on the lookout for an email in your inbox regarding ICF North Texas Text OPT-IN Instructions. Then, follow the instructions. It will take less than a minute to OPT-IN after you sign in.

Pro Bono Coaching Update

It has been a busy fall for many of our pro bono coaches. We are running three simultaneous projects with a number of coaches.

North Texas Food Bank – 19 coaches
United Way Metropolitan Dallas – 7 coaches
Texas Conference for Women – 10 coaches

We represented ICF North Texas at the Association for Talent Development (ATD) Dallas Southwest Learning Summit on November 3 and offered attendees the opportunity to sign up for complimentary coaching sessions. We received a great deal of interest from attendees and need a few more coaches. If you would like to provide a 45-minute virtual complimentary session scheduled at your convenience (by December by 9), please contact Dara Rossi at alliances@icf-nt.com.

Celebrate Coaching 2022

Thank you to all our members and associates who attended Celebrate Coaching 2022 and helped make it a great event. It was so nice to see everyone in person. Member Snapshot – Lupe Prado, PCC

This month we are very happy to introduce you to ICF North Texas chapter member Lupe Prado, PCC. Read on to find out more about yet another example of a professional coach who has changed and grown to provide her clients with new ways to navigate our changing world.

What is your niche and what makes your offering unique? As the owner of Lupe Prado Coaching, Lupe provides clients with career, corporate, and executive coaching. In addition, Lupe shares, “I have a podcast! It is one of the most rewarding projects that I have ever done.” Lupe’s podcast is called Paid Vocation and she interviews people who are doing work they love. This motivates her audience to find purpose and fulfillment in their work. She welcomes you to listen to Paid Vocation—noting we may be especially interested in a couple of ICF North Texas members she has interviewed, including her mentor from her work at PwC, Lisa Ong.

Tell us about your Professional Coaching training. The University of Texas at Dallas, Graduate Certificate in Executive and Professional Coaching; The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) training; International Coaching Federation (ICF) Professional Certified Coach (PCC); Dare to Lead trained.

What else can you share about your story? Lupe explained, “An important part of my story is that my parents immigrated to the United States from Mexico. I am very proud to be Mexican-American. I was the first in my family to go to college. I chose an accounting major because my high school sophomore computer teacher told students that accountants would always have job security. I knew that I wanted to work in an industry that would provide financial security so that I would be in a position to help my family. As a college freshman, I applied for an internship and scholarship from PwC and had the opportunity to intern there for three summers. It was a dream to work for one of the Big Four accounting firms and to have a full-time offer before graduation. I spent the first eight years of my career working at PwC (in the audit practice) and at Denbury Resources (in oil and gas SEC reporting). I learned so much from those eight years and I had the opportunity to work with brilliant people.”

She continued, “In 2014, my husband encouraged me to work with a coach because he could sense that I wasn’t feeling fulfillment from my work. I realized after finding and working with my coach that I did not feel passionate about accounting. I also discovered that I did feel passionate about the transformative power of coaching! In 2018, I became a mom to my daughter Elena and decided to leave my corporate role and go back to school and launch my coaching business. I completed the Master’s in Leadership, Organization Development and Executive Coaching at the University of Texas at Dallas in December of 2020. In April 2021, I gave birth to our sweet son, Luis. Today, in addition to being a mom, I get to work with coaching clients who want to make career pivots or continue developing as leaders. I also partner with The Boda Group as an executive coach. I absolutely LOVE what I do and feel so lucky to get to do this work! I feel a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Favorite client memory? One of my clients decided to hang a "Closed for Business" sign in his office as a visual anchor that he was allowed to be off and not working all of the time. Today he has strong boundaries in his life that allow him to show up as his best self at work and in his personal life.

Why are you part of ICF North Texas? I chose to be a member of ICF North Texas for the supportive community. I love that I learn something at every meeting!

• Coaching Science: Shooting for Coaching Goals and Checking Our Aim on November 8 from 2 – 3:30 PM EST (New York). Join Tünde Erdös, PhD, for a session examining the processes by which clients’ personality seems to predict clients' authentic self-development beyond goal attainment.
• Health and Wellness: Multicultural Sensitivity in Health, Wellness and Medical Coaching on November 10 from 12 Noon – 1:30 PM EST (New York). A panel of experts from diverse backgrounds will share ways to gain multicultural awareness, as well as the knowledge and skills to work effectively with all clients.
