We hope to see everyone this Thursday evening at our Member and Guest Holiday Party! Grab your PLUS ONE (spouse, significant other, colleague, etc.) and register on the chapter calendar now. Tickets are $25 per person. If you are registering a guest, you can add your guest's name and pay for both tickets at the same time when you register yourself (the member).

Our webinar speakers will discuss their book, Coaching in Government: Stories and Tips for Coaching Professionals (to be published on December 20, 2022), that captures the story of how internal coaching was introduced—and has since evolved—in the U.S. Federal Government and provides coaches and government agency leaders with the skills and tools to help them implement their own successful coaching programs. The book by these leaders in the field, follows the stories of several pioneers who have implemented coaching programs in government, aiming to help coaches learn from their mistakes and gain from their wisdom. Filled with interviews, case studies, reflective questions, and how-to action points, each chapter highlights the successes and failures of each coach's journey so that professionals can incorporate these lessons in their own practice. Chapters take readers from the beginning considerations to contemplating the future of their programs, focusing on setting a vision, overcoming issues and challenges, leveraging predictors of success, making key decisions, building foundations for sustainability, and creating continuing education for sustainment of change. Accessible and relatable, these stories will help professionals learn from those that have come before them, helping them begin the groundswell of change effectively and proactively in their own programs.

Call for Nominations:
2022 ICF North Texas Distinguished Service Award (DSA)

Nominations are open for the ICF North Texas Distinguished Service Award (DSA). This annual award is presented to a chapter member in recognition of outstanding service to the coaching profession and to the North Texas Chapter. The award will be presented January 13 at our chapter’s annual membership meeting. The three prior DSA recipients are Judy Feld, MCC; Sara Smith, MCC; and Teresa Pool, MCC. (MCC credential is not required!)

DSA nominees will be evaluated for their contributions to ICF North Texas Chapter and the coaching profession, the example they set as a role model for other coaches, and their professional coaching practice.

To be eligible, DSA Nominees must:
   • Be an active member in good standing of ICF-North Texas
   • Hold an up-to-date ICF Credential (ACC, PCC, MCC)
   • Have/has had an active coaching practice

To make a nomination, you must be a member in good standing of ICF North Texas and hold an up-to-date ICF credential (ACC, PCC, MCC). You may self-nominate.

To make a nomination for DSA 2022, you must use this online Nomination Form.

DSA nominations must be received by Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at 12:00 noon CST.

Member Snapshot - Tim Kincaid, PCC

In this final month of 2022, we are pleased to share more about our member, Tim Kincaid, PCC, who is now completing his year as Board President of our ICF North Texas. Thank you so much for all you have done and continue to do to build a strong coaching community, Tim!

Tim is principal of Kincaid owns Kincaid Associates Coaching & Consulting. He serves as a coach for LHH’s Ezra platform and is on the coaching bench for UNT, SMU, and Rice University. In addition, Tim is an adjunct faculty for the UNT College of Business.

Education and training. Tim holds a Doctor of Education (EdD), as well as a PCC accreditation as an ICF Professional Certified Coach. He is proud that it all began with his training with Coactive Training Institute (CTI). Tim offers Executive/Leadership and Life Planning coaching, and as he says, “Coaching is a powerful technology that transforms lives and organizations.”

Why your particular niche? Executive/leadership coaching is my primary focus. I like working with leaders at all levels in organizations, especially newly promoted, and those who want to grow their influence and go to the next level. I also like helping clients create their next chapter in life. And I especially enjoy working with leaders in academia (deans, chairs, administrators) and graduate students.

Coaching leadership and awards:

Past president and board member for the Gay Coaches Alliance (GCA), a professional association of men who identify as GBTQ and are coaches or work in similar helping professions that use coaching skills. We have 125 members worldwide and host annual coaching conferences.
Thomas J. Leonard Award - 2017 from Gay Coaches Alliance for contributions toward the advancement of the coaching profession.
Co-editor and contributor of Coaching Wisdom: Voices of the Gay Coaches Alliance (2021). Available on Amazon as both e-book and print formats.

Memorable client story: ICF North Texas offered an equine coaching workshop on a Saturday a few years ago. I invited a coaching client of mine who fondly spoke of growing up with horses. Though he was not a coach nor was inclined to become a coach, I had a hunch he would enjoy a day around horses and invited him as a guest. He had a powerful experience that day and was so moved that he went on to get trained and certified in equine coaching.

Why you are a member ICF North Texas? Community and connection. While coaching is a rewarding and wonderful profession, it also can be isolating and lonely, especially since nearly a 100 percent of my clients are virtual. I have built important relationships through ICF North Texas that have helped me build my business, share client referrals, and experience fun, collaborating gigs.

What else would you like to share with ICF North Texas members? The best way to get the most out of ICF membership is to engage. Volunteer—start small—and meet like-minded people, hone your coaching skills, and build your practice. Join and participate in a LINC special interest group. For volunteer opportunities, contact Cheryl Close, our membership director, at membership@icf-nt.com. Shifting from “consumer” to “contributor” will multiply the value of your membership and expand your circle of friends.

My husband Larry and I have been together 25 years and we are both American Airlines retirees and love to travel! We try to go on at least one cruise each year. We have two Welsh Corgis (Electra and Marty) and a tuxedo cat (Mel).

Happy place - AA business class on flight to London.

I have a classic car (aka the money pit), a 1978 Avanti. Sounds good, is fun to drive on weekends, and it makes me appreciate the dependability of modern cars!

The Special Events Committee has two main events per year: Celebrate Coaching and the Holiday Party. If you are someone who enjoys planning special events, we could really use your help for 2023.

We will start planning Celebrate Coaching 2023 beginning in January. The first few months are focused on finding our Celebrate Coaching speaker(s). We have a lot of fun while planning the best events possible!

New Findings Demonstrate the Social Impact of Coaching

A new report from the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Foundation demonstrates the value coaching not only brings to individual nonprofit leaders but also how their experiences positively impact their teams, organizations and the communities they serve. The report and its findings are a result of the ICF Foundation’s Coaching for Social Impact Project, which was completed in partnership with the New York-based nonprofit organization, Many Hopes.
